I spent the first few hours of Boris’s mayoral term having my human rights abused, althouh I am not sure whether it was officially announced at this point. Me and friend got to City Hall early, sat down, and immediately got approached by a FIT team, questioning us and taking pictures. Gradually our numbers increased, until there was roughly 100 of us. We were literally just standing there waving our flags and banners and chanting, when for no reason whatsoever, the cops start pushing as around, because apparently we were ‘obstructing the highway’, although we were only taking up a tiny amount of room at the edge of the walkway. They pushed about 40 of us into a pen, and put fences around us, there were probably about 70 cops around the edge of the fences.
We asked why we were being kept there, and apparently, we were staying there until they felt that a ‘breach of the peace’ was no longer likely to occur. I tried to quiz a couple of them on how this wasn’t a human rights abuse, as we weren’t allowed to go to the toilet, and they wouldn’t give us any water. I was perfectly reasonable but they didn’t want to know. Whenever anyone tried to escape they were violently pushed back in, although there were a few good scuffles, one of which resulted in one of them getting their hat stolen. TWO AND A HALF HOURS LATER they started letting people out in ones and twos, but about 15 of us stayed, because we wanted to leave as a group. THREE HOURS LATER we were allowed to go free, although we had to give them our name and address when we left, otherwise we would have got arrested.
SO FAR I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH BORIS AND HIS HUMAN RIGHTS POLICIES. It should also be noted that the BNP just walked past with no trouble.

Fantastic news, expect a lot more of the same from now on commies. BNP elected to the London Assembly, Tories all but in government already, your a spent force whose easy days are over.

Just wondering what the reason they gave for giving your names and addresses?

@ fitwatch: I can’t remember what law they said it was, but they were gonna arrest one of us for not giving our address, so we thought we might as well comply.
@ EnglishYouth: The Left has never been stronger than when Thatcher was in power – watch out.

English Youth – Fuck off
Fitwatch, they don’t need a reason, they are the law. If the pigs want to get you for something they will. If it’s breach of the Queens peace they’ll do it (that’s a catch all) even when the Queens not there. You can’t be free with a government.

Get used to it. And no this isn’t anything to do with boris. Livingstone was still in power before you arrived, so it was his police force. And all the times i’ve ever been fenced in (you were lucky you only had to endure 3 hours) Livingstone was mayor too; going all the way back to mayday 2001 when this tactic was first used to great effect in London.

EnglishYouth — Not very fucking English, are you? Wouldn’t you fit in better in Russia or China? I’m sure the Chinese government is looking for more pin-head police recruits. And if you’re so English you must be thick as well? Or did you misread the BNP’s name? Last time I checked, Britain was a multinational state and England was an oppressed country without even a parliament in the most basic bourgeois way.
Anyway, at least Yellow Ken is gone, eh?
